How do I find my vehicle?

There are a number of ways to use the website to find your vehicle. You can select one of the manufacturers on the left hand side of this page, where you will then be able to browse available cars by model and narrow down your selection by body type, fuel type and carbon emissions and cost as you click through the range. Alternatively, you can use the Search Centre to tailor your search by manufacturer, model, body type, budget, carbon emissions or fuel type to get straight to the model you had in mind. Your third option is to simply click on the Makes and Models page in the top navigation, you will be able to click straight through to the model you’re looking for.

How do I search by CO2 emissions?

Use the Windmill Leasing Search Centre to suit your own requirements, including searching by carbon emissions. Simply select low, medium or high emissions and you will be presented with a comprehensive range of vehicles to suit that bracket. Further details about CO2 emissions will be presented as you select your vehicle and, if you wish, you can compare vehicles through the Showroom (users must register to use the Showroom facility). Can I vary the contract term and mileage to customise my quote?

Yes, you can. Once you have selected the model, and narrowed down your choice to the car you want, you will have the option to change the contract term, mileage and initial payment and then simply click ‘Recalculate’ to show the new monthly payment amount.

How do I configure the car?

A full range of options are available for you to configure your car once you have found the specific car that you are looking for. You can either do this online or by talking through your options with a member of the team at Windmill Leasing. Call 01527 571610 or request a call back to speak to an account manager.

How do I compare cars?

The Windmill Leasing Showroom gives you the opportunity to compare up to 3 vehicles at a time and also save your results to continue browsing in a new session. To add cars to your Showroom, simply click ‘Add to Showroom’ when prompted. You will need to create an account in order to use the Showroom facilities, instructions for which are available on the main Showroom page once you have made an addition.

What is contract hire?

In a contract hire agreement you pay regular fixed monthly rental payments that cover all risks such as capital acquisition, cost of depreciation, road fund licence, roadside assistance and final disposal. You pay an initial upfront payment typically followed by 24, 36 or 48 equal monthly payments that are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.

Do I own the vehicle with contract hire?

The vehicle is yours to drive for the duration of the contract but vehicle ownership is retained by the finance company.

How does mileage affect my contract hire payments?

The amount that you pay depends on the amount of mileage you do per annum. Most of the prices you’ll see quoted on this website are for 10000, 20000 or 30000 miles per annum but we do cater for more (and less). If you run over your agreed mileage at the end of your term, an excess mileage based on a pence per mile (ppm) agreed at the start of the contract will be charged at the end of an agreement.

Whose responsibility is it to insure and tax a contract hire vehicle?

All contract hire customers must prove that their vehicles are covered on a fully comprehensive basis with adequate cover to ensure that the vehicle is insured for all scenarios in which it is used. The vehicle will be taxed throughout the term of your agreement.

Is VAT reclaimable?

50% of the VAT is reclaimable on the finance element and 100% of the VAT is reclaimable on the maintenance.

How does car finance lease differ from contract hire?

Car finance leasing is a way to purchase the vehicle over a fixed term duration. With contract hire the ownership is retained by the finance company and you can give the car back at the end of its contract term.

How does car finance leasing work?

In a car finance lease, you work to a monthly payment plan. The monthly lease payments are dependent upon the purchase price, the amount of deposit you put down, the term of rental, and the amount of your final payment. Factors such as mileage will affect the final payment amount.

How can I pay off the total amount of the vehicle?

You have two options; you can either pay off the entire cost of the vehicle over the contract period (plus interest on funding) or have a final (balloon) payment where you make regular monthly payments, plus the final payment of which is settled at the start of the agreement.

How does contract purchase work?

In a contract purchase agreement you make an initial payment and then regular fixed monthly payments for the duration of the contract up until the end of the agreement when you have the option to purchase the vehicle.

Do I own the vehicle with contract purchase?

The vehicle is yours to drive for the duration of the contract but vehicle ownership is retained by the finance company. That is until the end of the agreement, when you have the option of purchasing the vehicle.

How does mileage affect my contract purchase payments?

You will need to state your expected mileage at the beginning of your contract. The amount of miles you state will impact upon the amount you pay on a monthly basis and the calculated end value of the vehicle. An excess mileage charge will apply at the end of a contract if you go over your stated mileage, although this is only applicable if you decide not to purchase the vehicle.
